The 2016 Script Writing Workshop

The HomeVida 2016 Script Writing workshop held last week at the School of Media and Communications, Pan Atlantic University and it was an exciting experience for everyone.The 2-day workshop organized by HomeVida brought together scriptwriters, film makers and CSOs to train them on the various aspects of scriptwriting as well as highlight the importance of inspiring change with a script.

They were treated to various sessions facilitated by renowned Nollywood filmmakers and scriptwriters such as Sam Uche Anyamele, Ehizioje Ojesebholo, Ifesinachi Okoli-Okpagu, Chris Odeh and Ebele Enebeli.

HomeVida partners, SACE were also present to give a brief insight into their program and how participants can address Transparency, Accountability and Good Governance Issues in film.

Patrick Enaholo of the School of Media and Communication also took the participants through the Script Bank and its processes. The Script Bank is birthed from the Creative Film Project (an initiative of HomeVida and the School of Media and Communication) and is aimed at providing young and upcoming scriptwriters with a digital space to store their creative works and showcase them to a wider audience.

To wrap up the workshop on the 2nd day, the participants were presented with certificates of attendance by the Dean of the School of Media and Communication, Dr. Ikechukwu Obiaya.

On Friday December 4, 2015 the 6th edition of the Nigeria Integrity Film Awards took place at Victoria Crown Plaza Hotel, Victoria Island Lagos. This year, HomeVida in partnership with the School of Media and Communications, Pan Atlantic University launched the Creative Film Project. The Creative Film Project is an initiative of the School of Media and Communication and HomeVida to provide young and upcoming scriptwriters with an online database to store their scripts. It also includes training and professional support for scriptwriters to help them convert their scripts into films. The primary objective of the Creative Film Project is therefore to bridge the gap between talented scriptwriters and the film industry.

The Creative Film Project Story Contest is open to young and upcoming scriptwriters like you who would like to put a sample of their creative work out there for people to see, admire and vote / share!

How do i enter?

  3. Post a short synopsis of your script. It doesn’t have to be too long – between 250 and 500 words only!

Every year, the Homevida jury comprises of young, vibrant individuals who are committed to making a positive impact in their society. Meet this year’s jury below:

BlossomBlossom Chukwujekwu

Blossom Chukwujekwu is currently the Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards 2015 Best Supporting Actor. He made his acting debut in 2009 with the movie Private Storm and is best known for titles such as Knocking On Heavens’ Door, Flower Girl, Finding Mercy and Nigeria’s first ever Telenovella Taste Of Love.  Born in Benin City, Edo State, Blossom Chukwujekwu hails from Otolo, Nnewi North in Anambra State and holds a Bachelors’ degree in Mass Communications from the Benson Idahosa University.

Titi Akinsanmi 2Titi Akinsanmi

Titi is a non-techie techie with expertise in ICT policy and strategy. She holds a Masters in Management (Research Dissertation) from the University of Witwatersrand, specializing in Knowledge Management. Her experience spans both the public and private sectors leading and consulting for a range of regional and international institutions.  She served two terms on nomination of the UN Secretary General Kofi Annan, on the Internet Governance Forum Advisory Group, and as High-Level adviser of the United Nations Global Alliance for ICT for Development amongst other roles. A creative, she continues to be a part of the theater and film industry even as she manages Policy and government relations for the foremost Internet Company globally as part of a team in Africa. She has a range of publications on the issues of knowledge management, ICT4D and access, social media and the Internet ecosystem. She continues to actively engage on research and capacity building activities around Internet Governance in Africa initiating creative ways of engaging both Government, Civil society, the private sector and end users to understand, develop and implement policies that enable continuing innovation in the Internet sector.

Seun finalOluseun Onigbinde

Oluseun Onigbinde is the co-founder of BudgIT and a Knight International Journalism Fellow. For the past four years, he has been at the forefront of leading the initiative of developing a public data visualization platform for Nigeria’s budget. An avid writer with greater enthusiasm for reading, he is the 2012 Future Awards prize winner for Science and Tech Innovation and also won an award at the 2012 World Summit Youth Award. BudgIT, his organization was listed by Forbes Magazine as one of the top five exciting African startups to watch out for in 2013.

Sam UcheSam Uche Anyamele

Sam Uche Anyamele is a multi-lingual multiple award winning and multi-talented performing artiste cum instrumentalist, an Actor/Director, a Motivator, Mogul, Model, M.C (Compere par Excellence). With membership at various related allied associations in the Creative Community/ Culture Sector. He was at a time a Regional Judge/Artistic Director for the rested Amstel Malta Box Office (AMBO 2010) and an Associate Producer for The Next Movie Star, 2012 both programs are T.V. reality shows that have identified, trained and groomed young vibrant talents / artistes in the Entertainment Industry and the Arts and Culture Sector at large.

Ifesinachi OkoliIfesinachi Okoli – Okpagu

Ifesinachi is a versatile writer, who has written for screen and in other forms, including popular Nigerian blog, Bella Naija. With over five years of experience serving in various production capacities in the entertainment industry, she has written screenplays and scripts for studios, Pay TV channels and notable independent production companies including Amaka Igwe Studios, Ebonylife TV, Inspire Africa Productions, Temple Productions Limited, Grand Synopsis Media, among others. A Master’s degree graduate of Marketing Communications from the Pan-Atlantic University where she won the university prize for best graduating student, she has received several trainings in her area of expertise including BBC World Service Trust Creative Writing training, British Council Radiophonic training, Farafina Workshop and several other film production courses. Ifesinachi is also a published author whose works have appeared in local and international media.

Patrick EnaholoPatrick Enaholo

Patrick Enaholo is a member of faculty at the School of Media and Communication, Pan-Atlantic University, Lagos where he teaches in the department of New Media and Design. He holds a PhD from the University of Leeds, UK. He is keenly interested in the development of the creative industries in Nigeria and has been involved in a number of projects in the film, music, digital media and animation sectors. To pursue these projects, he has worked with various international organizations and corporations including Samsung, Microsoft, Google among others. Recently, he helped set up the Centenary Film Project, in partnership with HomeVida and supported by Google. He is a film enthusiast and something of a perfectionist. When he is not thinking up new ideas, you would find him reading a novel, watching a movie or checking up the sports news.

Chris OdehChris Odeh

Chris Odeh is a graduate of Mechanical Engineering from Bayero University, Kano in Nigeria. He is a passionate Producer, Project Manager, Trainer, Marketer and a Creative Script Writer with over a decade of experience in the media and entertainment industry of Nigeria. He started up as an associate producer with pan-African TV talk show Moments with Mo on DSTV; where he was a part of the team that churned out more than 100 episodes. In 2011 he won the HomeVida Best Short Film Script in the child friendly category with the popular ‘Enitan

Isioma OsajeIsioma Osaje

Isioma Osaje is currently the Creative Director at Agency 106 & Co., a boutique firm which provides Talent Management and Agency services for practitioners in the Nigerian Film Industry. Isioma Osaje is also a budding film maker and works as an Associate Producer with The Audrey Silva Company. Her CV includes seven years of experience in journalism, radio broadcasting and public relations. Ms. Osaje holds a Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery degree from Igbinedion University Edo State and is from Agbor-Obi, Ika South in Delta State.

Bukky OmoseniBukky Omoseni

Bukky Omoseni is a producer and media consultant with over eighteen {18} years’ experience in both Nigerian and International Companies. Over the years, he has worked with leading production companies in Nigeria such as Dudu Productions, IBST Media, HB Consolidated, Walterbanger 101 Productions and Micro Media Marketing to name a few. While in the Republic of Ireland, he worked as a Consultant to RTE; Ireland’s national television. Bukky also worked as a volunteer at Lucan’s Community Radio station ‘Liffey Sound FM’ where he hosted a multicultural talk show called ‘The Confluence’. He has worked with several government related agencies, companies and individuals to produce documentaries, adverts, films, soap operas and reality TV shows.
