Review:

Upcoming filmmaker, Lowladee has released another uplifting and refreshing drama and this time to the big screen. Her short film Brave (read about it here) was very successful and garnered lots of nominations including an AMVCA nomination, which is labelled the ‘Oscars of Africa’. This movie features some familiar faces such as Blossom Chukwujekwu, Kiki Omeili and Deyemi Okanlawon.

It was also nice to see some fresh faces in the industry as well such as Sika Osei, Mawuli Gavor and Omowunmi Dada. Having seen Sika on Studio 53 Extra and now as an actress, I must confess, she is a girl of many talents!!! She is a delight in this movie and at a point in the movie, I could have sworn I was watching Kerry Washington because they share similar facial expressions.

Mawuli Gavor who played Sika’s ‘sexy-but-always-busy’ boyfriend in the movie will definitely keep the ladies glued to their seat, not just because of his looks but how well he interpreted his role. Omowunmi Dada was the typical down-to-earth, tell-it-as-it-is best friend. The fact that I could relate with her acting and I could see some of my friends in her did it for me.

Blossom embodied the character of Dimeji so well, I was almost wondering if he was really going through something similar in reality because of how sad, tired and stressed he looked, not just in his facial expressions, but in his eyes as well (One of the many reasons he won Best Supporting Actor at the AMVCAs).

All round, the actors gave a 110% in their performances.

After the loss of their daughter, the relationship between Dimeji and his wife dwindled to the point where their only solution was to get divorced. This led to Dimeji taking a trip where he met and became friends with Abena, who was also in a bad place following the break up with her boyfriend of 6 years.

This movie had a great cast, great story and perfect length. It’s an hour long! No dragging of the story just perfect. The costumes used were appropriate, nothing over the top, sound and picture, excellente!! This movie was all round refreshing, apart from a bad joke that was made by Dimeji when telling Abena about his wife and the ‘interesting’ things she did.

Despite the bad joke (hehehe) it’s a feel-good movie that teaches about friendship, love and knowing that no matter how sad you are at the moment, you can always go back to your happy place.

I would rate this movie a 9 / 10.

It’s available to watch or download on irokotv.com and is well worth an hour of your time 🙂
