On the 10th of February, 2015, Homevida, Google and the National Film and Videos Censors Board (NFVCB) hosted 32 school children to commemorate the maiden edition of the Safer Internet Day (SID) in Nigeria. This day has been celebrated all over the world since 2004, and in its 12th year, Nigeria joined the rest of the world to mark this special event. SID seeks to promote safer and more responsible use of online technologies including mobile Internet and the theme for this year was “Lets create a better internet together“. The event which held at the Mulliner Towers in Ikoyi, Lagos, featured workshops in which the students were enlightened on the various ways the Internet can be of benefit to them and pitfalls they should be wary of. In the past two years, Google has observed Safer Internet Day with the rest of the world and has reached out to thousands of young online users, teachers and parents.
Nollywood stars, Blossom Chukwujekwu and Sam Uche Anyamele were also in attendance
